Studied at Ipswich School of Art and Brighton School of Art. Has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe in both mixed and one man shows.
Some of the work has its roots in nature. The forms and texture often taking their inspiration from fossils and sealife. Classic chinese forms such as balluster vases are also an influence. Most of this work is produced in white earthenware and then put through the Raku process. Some of the more sculptural work is fired to stoneware.
Antiquities are also an area of interest and I enjoy using influences of Greek and Roman pots, making pots with inset shards of ancient pots or producing pots on a theme.
I also produce a variety of blue and white earthenware and honey glazed commemorative slipware plates. Commissions are always welcomed.
Made of paperclay in the form of a nest. Torn strips of paperclay wrapped round a balloon (which is then removed). Cobalt and copper oxide wash to highlight the texture.
I use this book for reference when adding shards of Roman pottery to a vessel. It contains silhouettes of vessels and shapes of rims of pots. Very useful.
