Pottery Classes in Walsham- le-Willows Suffolk.
Set in the pretty village of Walsham-le-Willows, a purpose built pottery studio in the heart of East Anglia.

These pottery classes are 2 hour sessions run by Rob Wheeler. They are for complete beginners or those with a little experience who wish to improve their techniques. The pottery session covers all aspects of throwing with practical demonstrations using professional electric potters wheels. You will learn the techniques needed to throw basic cylinders and bowls and plates, the basic shapes of most forms. The clay used is fine white earthenware fired in an electric kiln. At the end of the pottery session you can choose two or three of your best pots to have fired and glazed. If you would like to learn how to trim, decorate and glaze your own pots that can done in another session covering a variety of techniques. The purpose built pottery workshop is light and airy. Cool in the summer and warm in winter.
Classes are from 10am until 12noon unless other arrangements are made.
The studio is only equipped for 2 people at a time.
All materials and firings are included in the cost which is £60 per person or £90 for 2 people.

Gift vouchers are available which are either emailed to you for you to print off or sent to you by post ( I would need your address if you would like it posted ). The voucher is not dated ( unless a date is already arranged) so it can then be redeemed at a date convenient to both of us. Along with the voucher, I would send you my bank details for you to transfer payment.
Turning and Decorating.
These classes are again a 2 hour session. They will cover a number of techniques such as slip trailing, paper resist , sgraffito and painting oxide direct onto unfired glaze. You will use pots that you have previously made in the throwing session.
Again all materials and firings are included as are brushes and decorating tools in the cost of £60 per person or £90 for 2.
Please note that you will need a gap of at least 2 days between the throwing session and the turning and decorating session to allow your pots to dry out enough to trim up.
Classes are from 11am until 1pm unless other arrangements are made.
